Novomoskovskiy Azot

Novomoskovskiy Azot (NAK Azot) is one of Russia’s largest chemical enterprises: every ninth tonne of ammonia and nitrogen fertilizer in Russia is produced here. The plant has been thoroughly upgraded and rebuilt to achieve greater efficiency, product flexibility and reduced environmental impact.

Primary product capacity:

MMT p.a.
Ammonia 1.67
Urea 1.48
Ammonium Nitrate 1.29
UAN 0.43
CAN 0.42
Methanol 0.34
Recent Investment Projects:

EuroChem’s investments in NAK Azot are aimed at increasing efficiency and product flexibility, as well as reducing the environmental impact of the production process.

  • Increased ammonia, urea and ammonium nitrate production while decreasing energy consumption per unit by 20% through equipment upgrades and transition to new production technologies
  • Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) production launched in November 2009
  • Granulated urea:  EuroChem launched Russia’s first granulated urea production line at NAK Azot in December 2009.  After completion of the second line in September 2010, the daily capacity reached 4,350 tonnes/day
  • Upgrades to water consumption and treatment systems
Sustainability:

Employees:

  • Funding of family holidays for employees

Community:

  • Construction of 900-seat “Ice Palace” skating rink
  • Funding for children’s sports school
  • “EuroChem class” chemistry labs for local schools

Environment:

  • Investments in new products that reduce natural gas consumption, ammonia and urea dust emissions
  • Replacement of heat insulation for inter-shop utilities, reducing heat loss
  • Installation of purification equipment at urea-3 and NPK shop
