Iron ore concentrate

Iron ore concentrate is used as a metallurgic raw material in iron smelting. Iron ore concentrate recovery  is based on magnetic beneficiating methods. Produced by open-cut mining.

Main technical characteristics
Main specifications Norm
Fe, %   64,0± 0.5
P, %, not more   0,10
H20, % In summer period, max value, % 8.5
In winter period, max value 1.5

Iron ore concentrate is non-combustible, explosion-proof and radioactive-proof.

Transportation

Iron ore concentrate is transported by railroad in bulk in open cars and by sea on all-type vessels designed for transportation of bulk load.

Storage

Iron ore concentrate is stored under conditions preventing its contamination and mixing with other materials.

Shelf life – unlimited.

Baddeleyite concentrate

Baddeleyite concentrate – natural zirconium oxide (ZrO2), used for production of refractory, abrasive and other materials. Today Kovdorsky GOK is the only producer of baddeleyite concentrate in the world. There are four grades of baddeleyite produced:

  • Leached micronized baddeleyite concentrate, grade PB-ХОМ;
  • Leached baddeleyite concentrate, grade PB-ХО;
  • Grade PB-0;
  • Grade PB-1.

Aluminium fluoride

Aluminium fluoride (AlF3) – powdered crystal of white and grey color. Produced during reprocessing of fluorine-containing phosphate raw material (apatites, phosphates) into phosphoric acid in the process of compound fertilizer production. About 95% of AlF3 overall output is used for the production of aluminium and in glassmaking, the leather industry, and in optics production.

Main technical characteristics
Main specifications Norm
AlF3, %, not less than 96
Al2O3, %, not more than 2
L.O.I., %, not more than 1
SiO2, %, not more than 0.18
