Urea

Urea (CO(NH2)2) is produced from ammonia and carbon dioxide. Urea is a highly-efficient general purpose nitrogen fertilizer used in agriculture for ground treatment, top-dressing in early spring and in vegetation period, used for all soil types for any crop plants. Urea stimulates a significant increase in yields of agricultural crops. Urea is also used in industry for production of plastics, glues, and resins. Urea also finds an application as ruminant’s forage additive agent (100 g of urea are equal by feeding value to 260 g of proteins or 2,7 kg of oats). Urea is treated with conditioning additives to prevent caking. Production form – granules and prills.

Ammonium nitrate

Ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) is produced by the neutralization of nitric acid by ammonia. Ammonium nitrate is used in agriculture as a high-efficiency, concentrated nitrogen fertilizer for the top-dressing of winter crops, perennial grasses and pastures, for sugar cane cultivation, and also used in industry for the manufacture of explosive substances and mixtures. Production form – prills. Product is treated by anti-caking additives.

Calcium ammonium nitrate

Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) is produced by mixing ammonium nitrate solution with fine limestone (dolomite) followed by granulation of the mixture. Production form – granules. Calcium ammonium nitrate regulates growth of vegetative mass, increases protein and gluten content in grain, raises crops yield, positively affects the fertility of all soil types. The soil is not acidified from regular application of this fertilizer; therefore this fertilizer may be used for all soil types and for all agricultural crops. Calcium ammonium nitrate is effectively used for acid soil especially.

Urea ammonium nitrate solution

Urea-ammonium nitrate solution (UAN solution) is liquid nitrogen fertilizer containing 28-32% of nitrogen. UAN solution is a high-performance fertilizer, equal to ammonium nitrate or urea regarding influence on agricultural crops yield increase. UAN solution is produced by mixing water solutions of urea and ammonium nitrate in determined proportions with neutralization of free ammonia and inhibition of the product derived. UAN contains practically no free ammonia; this fact excludes nitrogen loss in loading, transportation, storage and application in soil. UAN may be applied using high-performance machines excluding simultaneous filling in soil, and also with sprayed water.

Main technical characteristics
Main specifications Norm
Total Nitrogen, %, min 32
Urea/Ammonium Nitrate ratio,% 0.74 -0.8
Alkalinity in terms of free ammonia, % 0.02-0.1
Content of inhibitor, %,  min 0.01
Type of inhibitor Novocor and/or Corblok

UAN contains a corrosion inhibitor for the protection of carbon steel equipment. Chemicals allowed for application in accordance with established procedure are used as corrosion inhibitor.

Transportation

UAN with corrosion inhibitor may be transported in rail tank cars and truck tanks. Low crystallization temperature -2°С and chilling temperature -26°С allow transportation and storage of UAN year-round, especially in buried concrete and asphaltic heated storages, film-lined inside. Crystallization and short-term freezing of UAN solution in storage tanks are not very dangerous, since crystals are dissolved and fertilizers fully restore their properties with the rise of temperature.

Storage

Shelf life: 6 months from production date.

Anhydrous Ammonia

Anhydrous ammonia (NH3) is produced by catalytic synthesis of hydronitric mixture; natural gas and nitrogen contained in the atmosphere are the primary raw materials for ammonia production. Ammonia is the basic raw material for production of nitrogen, phosphate and compound fertilizers; it is also used in agriculture and different industries.

Main technical characteristics
Name of parameter Norm

Water by weight, %, min 0.5
Oil, max. parts, %, max 0.1
Fully refrigerated at temperature, 0C minus 33

Anhydrous ammonia is highly combustible.

Transportation

Anhydrous ammonia is transported in special ammonia tank cars and tank trucks, in steel balloons, in tankers, and also by ammonia pipeline. Transportation of Anhydrous ammonia in the tank cars and tank trucks is carried out in compliance with dangerous goods regulations applied to this type of transport means. Anhydrous ammonia balloons are transported by all transport means in covered transport facilities, in compliance with dangerous goods regulations applied to this type of transport means.

Storage

Anhydrous ammonia is stored in above-ground tanks and storage facilities, in compliance with the safety regulations for above ground storage facilities of Anhydrous ammonia. Anhydrous ammonia balloons are stored in special storage facilities or open areas under shed, protecting balloons from atmospheric precipitation and direct sun rays. Shelf life – 1 year from the date of production.

Aqua ammonia

Aqua ammonia (NH3∙H2O) (ammonia water) is produced by dissolving of ammonia gas in the water. There are two grades depending on the purpose: Grade «А» – used for industrial purpose. Grade «B» – used in agriculture as effective fertilizer for top-dressing of tilled crops. Use of ammonia water in agriculture allows sharply reducing labor costs due to full mechanization of the process of transportation, storage and application of fertilizers.
