EuroChem intends to build a mining enrichment combine and to take part in development of phosphorus deposits in the territory of Kazakhstan

On the 9th of October 2008 the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev approved implementation by the company EuroChem of a large-scale project for development of phosphorus deposits in the Karatau basin, construction on the basis of developed deposits of a mining and enrichment combine as well as construction of plants for production of phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers.

The Company EuroChem has already registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan its subsidiary – TOO "EuroChem – Fertilizers" as well as acquired the state stock of shares in JSC "Sary-Tas" the plant of which has been inactive for 15 years already and needs large-scale investments and global reconstruction. It on the basis of the preserved plant "Sary-Tas" it is proposed to build a plant for manufacturing of phosphate fertilizers (approximate capacity is 1 million tons per year), a plant for manufacturing of nitrogen fertilizers (0.8 million tons per year) and a complex for production of NPK fertilizers (0.5 million tons per year).

The Company EuroChem evaluates the project at the amount over 2,500 million $ and intends to proceed to implementation. As a result, by 2015 not only the problem of increase of supplies for the domestic market of Kazakhstan will be resolved but also 2 million tons of mineral fertilizers per year will be received by agricultural enterprises of Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.
