Kovdorsky Mining-and-Processing Integrated Works (GOK) is the second largest producer of apatite concentrate in Russia and the only producer of baddeleyite concentrate in the world.

After the start-up in 1962 the enterprise produced only iron-ore concentrate. In 1975, apatite and baddeleyite processing factory plant was opened here, which was processing iron-ore waste and producing apatite concentrate. In 1976, the plant started production of baddeleyite concentrate. Thus, the integrated works became the first in the sector to carry out integrated processing of produced mineral raw material.

By late 1980s design capacities of Kovdorsky GOK were fully commissioned. That time the integrated works achieved maximal ever recorded production growth. During economic crisis of 1990s Kovdorsky GOK cut output of all types of products, largely, iron-ore concentrate.

In 2001, Kovdorsky GOK joined EuroChem Mineral and Chemical Company. The management and technical experts of the integrated works charted a course toward improvement of quality and consumer properties of commercial concentrates, development of foreign economic activity, and cutting operating costs. These measures permitted to keep untouched and stabilize operation and financial activity of the integrated works, and considerably recondition and upgrade fized assets, and expand product markets.

Currently Kovdorsky GOK shows steady performance with upward trend in production rate. The enterprise is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, managed by a qualified management team, and skilled personnel.

Phosphorus-containing raw material reserves of the enterprise exceed 500mt, prospective reserves are over 2bnt. The integrated works products meet highest international standards of quality.

Virtually total amount of apatite concentrate is shipped to EuroChem enterprises producing phosphate fertilizers. Traditional consumers of iron-ore concentrate, 80% of which is sold in Russia, are Severstal, and West Siberia Metallurgical Integrated Works. Remaining 20% are exported to Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. 95% of baddeleyite concentrate is sold to Japan, USA and Europe.

Being one of the largest mining-and-processing enterprises of the Kola Peninsula, Kovdorsky GOK is famous for high production standards and environmental friendliness. Environmental activity of the enterprise is aimed at air and water pollution cut, production and consumer waste utilization and processing.

Currently the enterprise has nearly 4,900 employees. Kovdorsky GOK is a guarantee of the Kovdor town and surrounding regions sustainability.
