EuroChem - Belorechenskie Minudobrenia is a large producer of phosphate and compound fertilizers in the south of Russia.
The enterprise has been manufacturing marketable products since 1977. In late 1982 large-size production units were commissioned, and a powerful industrial complex was created equipped with advanced technologies and highly automated. Early 1990s were hard times for the enterprise, and by the end of 1994 it was on the verge of bankruptcy. Long years of outages had had a significant impact on production assets ? at the beginning of 2002 the enterprise output amounted to 4,000 - 8,000t of fertilizers.
In Autumn 2002, the enterprise joined EuroChem Mineral and Chemical Company, which resulted in significant changes, such as funding improvement, uninterruptible raw material supply, 70-75 % capacity load factor.
Since the time when the enterprise had passed into the ownership of the company, two programs were launched at the enterprise. The first one was aimed as existing capacities recovery while the second program's objective was to reduce production cost. Within investment projects in 2003 major overhaul of main plants had been carried out, with the result that fertilizers production increased by 1.5 for the last two years. Thus, compound mineral fertilizers production facility has almost reached its design capacity and now is capable of producing nearly 30,000t of fertilizers monthly. Sulphuric acid facility has built up capacity to 40,000t monthly and in addition to technical acid grade now produces high quality K grade and difficult-to-obtain oleum. Wet-process phosphoric acid output has increased from 10,000 to 15,000t per month. The facility is now capable of producing up to 3,000t of commercial phosphoric acid.
In 2003, EuroChem investment permitted the enterprise to launch commercial production of a new more profitable product ? sulphoammophos 20:20 and renew production of liquid compound fertilizers.
The enterprise sells both domestically and internationally. The main markets in Russia are nearby agricultural areas: Krasnodar and Stavropol Territory, Rostov Region. The enterprise also makes supplies under agreements with local authorities. Export markets include Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Israel, Poland, Romania, Slovakia.
The enterprise has been carried out environmental projects such as hydroamelirants dry storage, reconstruction of aspiration system in compound mineral fertilizers plant.
At the end of 2004, EuroChem - Belorechenskie Minudobrenia started a large and socially important investment project aimed at the reconstruction of feed fluorine-free phosphate plant for further production of a highly potential product - diammonium phosphate.
Currently the enterprise has nearly 2,000 employees with two-fold increase in average salary compared with 2002. The employees benefit from various incentives, such as medical care at resorts and sanatoriums, recreation and health-improvement facilities for children.
