Project Concept Description

The Gremyachinskoe potassium field is unique within Ciscaucasian Russia for its reserves of potassium salts
Total area – 97 km2
Potassium formation depth – over 1 km
Approved reserves – more than 1.2 billion tons
Ore grade is exceptionally high due to a potash chloride content of 34 - 41%

Project Implementation Phases

2006

-  Gremyachinskoe potassium field discovery
-  First sample recovery
- Agreement on socioeconomic collaboration between OAO EuroChem Minerals and Chemicals Company  and the Volgograd Region Administration is signed

2007

- Opening of LLC EuroChem-VolgaKaliy office, drying and storing rooms, research facilities for sampling quality
- The investment project for constructing a mineral processing complex is presented to the President of The Russian Federation and the First Deputy of the Chairman of the Government

2008

-  First phase of geologic exploration is successfully completed
- Design and construction contracts for a skip shaft and cage winding shaft are executed with with Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH (Germany) and Shaft Sinkers PTY Ltd (South Africa)

2009

- Industrial community for 1,000 people founded in Khutor Pimeno-Cherni
- 110/10 kW capacity substation phased in for mineral processing plant
- Shaft Sinkers PTY Ltd starts preliminary work on sinking the cage winding shaft; completion date – December 2011
- Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH starts preliminary work on sinking the skip shaft; completion date – December 2012
- Construction of a railroad to the mineral processing plant starts.
